Can COVID affect the eyes?
When it comes to COVID-19 symptoms, fatigue, fever, and dry cough maybe some of the infection’s classic signs. This virus also has other complications. Scientists have observed eye malformations in victims infected with critical COVID-19, which may sound odd but is extremely common. As per the research carried by a set of medical experts covid 19 and sore eyes are related.
Study shows COVID-19 can harm eyes
A recent article in the medical journal pointed out that severe COVID-19 can affect the eyes. And can cause-specific eye abnormalities in the patients. The French Society of Neuroradiology study used MRI scans to identify visual abnormalities in COVID patients.
The study comprised 129 patients on MRI scans, of whom 9 patients exhibited symptoms of eye malformations and 8 of whom had been infected and hospitalized due to COVID. The MRI findings predicted “nodules.,” an abnormality found at the back of the patient eyes., which could be a direct covid 19 and sore eyes infection, inflammation, or damage to the patient eye .
How to prevent yourself?
You should need a fundamental level of awareness and attention regarding the COVID infection and signs. The study strongly suggests people with COVID infection should undergo eye screening., like fundoscopy or MRI.
Doctors and researchers carry multiple tests like MRI scans to a large extent to resolve the eye infection in the patients’ starting stage.
You should be careful about these eye symptoms
problems like conjunctivitis also discovered among the COVID-19 infected patient. Patients often complain of feeling/experiencing sore eyes. Different conjunctivitis types, bacterial infection (gritty eyes), or mucous discharge could also be symptoms.
